Our garden
Since 2021, a new initiative has emerged at Domaine de Palot: the creation of a vegetable garden inspired by permaculture. Here, no intensive work of the land, but an environmentally friendly approach, favoring living soils enriched by green waste to produce a healthy and nourishing compost for our vegetable plants.
Our first harvests were promising, with juicy tomatoes and abundant squash. Currently, we harvest leeks and black radishes, while our cabbages take their time to reach their optimal size. The beans are also starting to show up, announcing future tasty tastings.
As part of our community engagement, in early 2023, we offered a local association a field space to create a shared vegetable garden. Thanks to the contribution of a former carpenter who built a hut to store tools, dry toilets, bicycle parking and garbage cans, the project quickly took shape. Members of the association used lasagna cultivation techniques to start the first plantings in spring 2023. Bordering a pond fed by a natural and preserved source of chemicals, this shared vegetable garden has become a real place of production of vegetables, medicinal plants and some quality fruits.
In 2023, members proudly harvested more than a ton of vegetables, demonstrating the effectiveness and generosity of this collaborative project. With the arrival of winter 2023, winter plantations, such as peas, beans, garlic, onions and shallots, took place, ensuring continuity in production throughout the year.
At Domaine de Palot, our commitment to environmentally friendly agriculture and our support for community initiatives reflect our desire to create a more sustainable and supportive world.
